The activity is based at Tube ‘n Axe in Darnell Street Storms River Village.

The trip from arrival at Tube ‘n Axe to the end after Lunch takes approximately 5 hours.

The day begins with check in Stormsriver (Tube 'n Axe) where tea and coffee and light breakfasts are available. The Tubing group is assembled and addressed by our guide team in the orientation briefing. During this brief, the trip leader will explain the day’s events, time frames, risks involved etc.

After orientation, the group is escorted to the equipment store and kitted out with river safety gear.

Once ready, the group boards the vehicle(s) and embarks on a 15min scenic drive through the village and Plaatbos nature reserve to the drop off point.

The steep walk down from the drop-off point to the river, takes approximately 10 minutes.

The group is then assembled at riverside for the safety brief.

During the safety brief the trip leader cautions and explains hazards and how to avoid them. A thorough demonstration of the use of equipment and the do’s and don’t on river is also given during the safety brief.

Once the trip leader has completed the safety brief, the group members are checked individually for comfort and correct fitting of equipment.

From the point of entry to the river to the exit point at the low water bridge in the old Storms River Pass is approximately 3.5km and take roughly three hours to traverse the distance in the riverbed.

Pick-up is at 12:00 and the drive back to base takes approximately 20min.

Once back, the group changes out of their equipment and lunch is then served in the bar area at Tube ‘n Axe. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are available at the Tube ‘n Axe bar.

The guides take digital photos during the course of the day with our waterproof cameras and these are available on CD at an additional charge of R 50.00 after lunch.

The Tubing day ends at approximately 2pm after lunch
